A medieval priory from foundation to dissolution

Castle Acre Priory was home to a community of Cluniac monks who rejoiced in the ‘beauty of holiness’. Discover how the priory functioned between its foundation in the late 11th century and dissolution by Henry VIII. Digging deeper at Grime’s Graves

Join us for a special tour which will take place in Greenwell’s Pit, the first mine to be excavated at Grime's Graves in 1868-70. Normally closed to the public, Greenwell’s Pit is remarkably well preserved and has many objects still in place where they were deposited by the Neolithic miners.
