English Heritage exists to champion our historic environment and to save the best of it for future generations. We do this by caring for historic places, as well as encouraging other people to enjoy and understand them so that they in turn value our rich heritage.

Our way of working
The range of expertise we have within English Heritage is one of our key strengths. To complement what we do, we have a set of seven Behaviours to demonstrate how we work together.

Each Behaviour has been designed to be applicable to all English Heritage roles, although some will be more relevant than others in certain jobs. The document on the right-hand side of this page provides more detail about these Behaviours.
