Hunt for Grade II buildings at risk
English Heritage has launched the Heritage at Risk Register 2012 and announced an ambitious programme to find out how the one major element of our heritage not already covered by the Register – the nation’s Grade II listed buildings - can be assessed. Adding those found to be at risk from neglect, decay, damaging alterations or dereliction to the national or local At Risk Registers would be a first step to securing their future.

West Midlands' Grade II buildings at risk
20 buildings including Richards Castle, Hereford, Bells Farm, Birmingham and Astley Castle, Warwickshire removed from Heritage at Risk Register. Four new entries include Pentre Isaf Farmhouse in Shropshire and the Ruined Cathedral Church of Saint Michael in Coventry.

Yorkshire's Grade II buildings at risk
English Heritage has launched the Heritage at Risk Register 2012. It reveals that 91 of Yorkshire's Grade I and II* buildings, 676 scheduled monuments, 63 places of worship, 13 registered parks and gardens, 4 battlefields and 53 conservation areas are at risk.

English Heritage Angel Awards 2012

Broadgate Square
We are of course disappointed that the Secretary of State has declined our recommendation to list Broadgate Square, but we respect his decision and welcome the public debate that the case has prompted. We are pleased that in his decision letter the Secretary of State acknowledged the comprehensive analysis given to the case by English Heritage. It is the role of English Heritage to offer impartial, expert advice to the Government on the architectural and historic merit of a building but Ministers are democratically accountable for the final decision.

Industrial Heritage at Risk
English Heritage is embarking on a project to find out how much of the country's industrial heritage is at risk of neglect, decay or even demolition and to raise the debate about what needs saving and how. It will reveal the results of its Industrial Heritage at Risk research, including what the public think, in October this year at the launch of the annual English Heritage Heritage at Risk register.

Where Heritage Hits the Streets
Conservation Areas all over England are benefitting from the voluntary efforts of local people, working closely with local councils and supported by English Heritage. Valuing Places: Good Practice in Conservation Areas published today by English Heritage, is a blueprint for action, describing dramatic improvements to 18 conservation areas from Berwick, Ulverston, Ripon, Bradford and Sheffield in the North to Truro, Aylesbury, Portsmouth and central London in the South.

Heritage at Risk 2010: Historic Building Rescues Slowed by Recession
The Heritage at Risk Register 2010 published today (Wednesday 7 July) by English Heritage shows a significant slow-down in the number of Grade I and II* buildings being saved from neglect and decay prompting fears that England might lose the very thing which makes it most special in the eyes of the world and could help to underpin economic recovery.
