English Heritage regrets that due to extreme weather conditions, the annual re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings will not now be taking place on Sunday 14th October.
Although the forecast was for fair weather over this weekend, unexpected torrential rain over several hours this morning has resulted in unacceptably high levels of mud both on the battlefield and on public areas, which means for safety reasons, English Heritage has reluctantly decided that the event cannot go ahead on Sunday 14th October.
The site will remain open, but the event itself will not go ahead. Those who have pre-booked tickets will automatically receive a refund and do not need to contact English Heritage. Please call our Customer Services Department on 0870 333 1181 with any further queries.
