David is one of six educationalists who are providing workshops at the Forum. This will be led by Professor Simon Schama (government advisor on the history curriculum) and Dr Michael Maddison (HMI and Ofsted's national advisor for history).

The Forum will consider the future of school history and respond to crucial questions from teachers and anyone passionate about teaching history in schools.

Earlier this year Sandra Stancliffe, Head of Education and Interpretation at English Heritage, responded to changes proposed for the national curriculum and stressed the need for "flexibility in any new curriculum to enable teachers to make history relevant to students in their local context".

To book a place at the conference (fee £10) please contact Paul Bracey 01604 892471 before 6 October 2011.
