2011 Festival of History and Group Event Highlights

Add a touch of historical magic to your itinerary by including an event. English Heritage properties up and down the country offer visitors a colourful programme of action from the past. There is a 15% discount for groups of 11 or more. Have a look at our top events for groups:

23-25 April: For Easter and St George!

Easter coincides with the St George’s Day Festival at Wrest Park, Bedfordshire: England’s biggest celebration of our patron saint. 

With damsels and dragons, dramatic equestrian and falconry displays, an historic market and a living history camp.

16 & 17 July: Festival of History

Back by popular demand: English Heritage’s flagship event Festival of History at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire.

With a cast of thousands taking visitors on an action-packed journey through 2,000 years of history, it includes big arena events, battle re-enactments and jousting.

15 & 16 October: The Battle of Hastings Where it Happened

1066…Saxon King Harold and William Duke of Normandy fought for the English throne.

Centuries on, the battlefield will again witness the atmosphere and tension of the conflict in the annual re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings at 1066, Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield in East Sussex.
