School holiday boredom busters on Hadrian's Wall

As the end of the school holidays draws ever closer, families looking for low-cost days out should head to Hadrian's Wall this August.

There is something to keep children and their parents entertained at all four of English Heritage's Roman sites on Hadrian's Wall  and a day out for a family of four can cost less than £20.

Keep the troops entertained

Epic Roman history, stunning scenery and lots of fresh air all provide excellent reasons to visit, but as most children learn about the Romans in primary school, a trip to see some real Roman history and enjoy hands-on activities mean they will have something to take back to the classroom in September.
