The Commission, which is the governing board of English Heritage, delegates operational management to the Chief Executive who also serves as Accounting Officer on behalf of the Department for Culture Media and Sport.
The Chief Executive is supported by an Executive Board comprising the Executive Directors of English Heritage's four operational groups. The Board meets monthly and is responsible for:
- leading the organisation in achieving its objectives
- making sure that it is managed effectively and
- making sure that it achieves best value for the money it receives
