John Gay was an outstanding freelance photographer best known for his architectural images and celebrity portraits, however he also captured moments in the life of ordinary people. As a German emigre he took pictures of England's people, building, animals and landscapes from the mid-1930s to the 1990s. The exhibition features images from his collection held by the National Monuments Record, the public archive of English Heritage.
