Join us for the ultimate in competitive historical combat in the grounds of the impressive Beeston Castle. It’s the age of the Anglo Normans and there are frequent wars abroad and at home. The country is full of men eager to prove their valour and practice for war.
In this two day event, four teams – each of 12 fully armoured knights – will attempt to emerge victorious from a recreated "Crest Melee".
There can be only one winning team. Alliances will be made and some will be broken as the combatants, overseen by the Knight Marshall and his Heralds, fight with shield and club to knock crests from helmets in a genuine contest of skill and strength in the arena.
Meet the teams as they prepare for battle and pick your side. Enjoy performances of period music and visit the encampments to see what life was like during the thrills and spills of combat. Younger knights can learn valuable fighting techniques and even take part in their own drill.
Chain-mailed and adrenalin-fuelled, 48 knights meet head-on. Medieval combat just got personal.
