As part of our 'Meet the Author' series visitors are given the chance to hear a talk by James Taylor at The Home of Charles Darwin, Down House. James will also be on hand to answer questions and sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase.

James Taylor was educated at St Andrews and Manchester universities before moving on to hold a number of posts at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. He has been publishing on marine art since the mid-1990s and has since written several books around maritime history including a publication about the story of the ship HMS Beagle on which Darwin himself sailed. Professional accolades include numerous Sir James Caird awards for writing (amongst others). He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
