Half term free entry to Carisbrooke Castle

In conjunction with Red Funnel Ferries.

As Charles I's royal prison, Carisbrooke Castle could tell many stories…

Children can discover 800 years of history for free this half term when you take along a Red Funnel ferry ticket , 11-19 Feb 2012*.

Carisbrooke Castle

The kids will love climbing the towering keep, and imagining themselves as a medieval soldiers as they march the battlements and survey the surrounding lands. See the history of the castle brought to life with a fun, dramatic film and enjoy hands-on fun trying on armour and handling medieval weaponry. You can even have a go at firing a mini-cannon!

Carisbrooke Castle is a great family day out reaching into the past and providing opportunities for tranquil relaxation. Dwell awhile in the Edwardian-style Princess Beatrice Garden, created by award-winning garden designer Chris Beardshaw; experience the calm of the castle chapel and visit the Carisbrooke Castle Museum with its fascinating Charles I memorabilia.

Enjoy stroking the donkeys.  Carisbrooke Castle has been their home since the 17th century when they were brought in to work the treadwheel in the well-house. They still do this today.  Watch demonstrations, visit the donkeys in the donkey centre, and find out why each has a name beginning with 'J'.
