Other London Schemes & Plaques

English Heritage only erects plaques within London and its blue plaques scheme has always been based in the capital.  However, there are many other commemorative plaques in London.

Blue Plaque for Frankie Howerd

Plaque to Frankie Howerd erected by the Dead Comics Society (now the British Comedy Society) at 27 Edwardes Square, Kensington.

These have been erected both by individuals, on a limited basis, and as part of schemes which operate alongside English Heritage's own.  Among the best-known of these are the green plaques scheme run by Westminster City Council, the City of London’s scheme, the Heath and Hampstead Society’s scheme of black plaques, and the schemes run by the British Comedy Society and the Heritage Foundation.

Plaques are also erected by groups including Harrow Heritage Trust, Southwark Council, Lewisham Council, Ealing Civic Society, Bromley Council, Hammersmith and Fulham Historic Buildings Group, Haringey Council, Hillingdon Council, Wandsworth Council, the Marchmont Association, Islington Council, and Waltham Forest Council.
