Villains or Victims - The Border Raiders' Story

Discover more about the turbulent life of the Border Raiders (‘Reivers’) on the English-Scottish border in Elizabeth I's reign. Explore Carlisle Castle and discover the facts and fiction behind the capture and release of the notorious Scot, Will of Kinmont. Find out how the Reivers made their living by raiding, in contrast to the citizens of Carlisle who were trying to make a more honest living. Through storytelling, role play and object handling, students learn about life in and around Carlisle Castle in the 1590s.
