Guidance prepared jointly by English Heritage and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) to help local authorities in their consideration of planning applications for large digital screens in public spaces.
This joint guidance from English Heritage and CABE has been published following widespread public consultation in 2009. Primarily it aims to assist local authorities in the consideration of planning applications for large digital screens. Increasingly, proposals are being made by broadcasters and commercial companies for large screens in public spaces. This includes the BBC’s Live Sites programme for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, which will see a large number of permanent screens installed across the UK.
The guidance draws on experience from the Live Sites screens already erected. It sets out a clear set of principles, and highlights a range of issues which should be considered when proposals are advanced for individual sites alongside illustrations of good and bad practice.
The guidance can be read or downloaded in PDF form in the panel opposite. If you want a hard copy please email via the link to the right of this page.
