The Synagogues at Risk (SAR) Survey forms part of English Heritage’s Heritage at Risk programme. It was commissioned by English Heritage in order to foster understanding of the specific needs of synagogues as a building type and to identify potential cases of ‘Synagogues at Risk’.
The SAR Survey has enabled the identification of synagogues that would most benefit from support in terms of grant aid and how to access it, as well as from professional advice regarding repairs and maintenance, security issues and development of tourism potential.
