The future of our public parks in under debate. Studies by organisations such as Green Space and the governement's own Urban Green Spaces Taskforce concluded that skills and training were key factors in any parks rebirth.
To help inform this debate and illustrate the evolution of parks management, English Heritage and the Parks Agency prepared a brief history of park keeping.
It is hoped that this publication will be of value to all those with an interest in the evolution of our parks, whether in government agencies, in local parks departments or in future generation of park keepers.
