Section of NMP mapping for Trundale Gill. There are several possible prehistoric settlements at Warcop. Some sites lie at the base of limestone ridges, which would afford them some shelter, whilst others are in more exposed positions, such as at Trundale Gill. Here a possible Bronze Age settlement survives as earthworks and low stonework walls. There is a group of enclosures containing hut circles with associated round cairns and field system. The site was attested to have been re-used as a medieval shieling and one enclosure seems to have been rebuilt and used as a sheep fold. 1:10,000 NMP mapping  © English Heritage. NMR.
