Howgill Fold Iron Age or Romano British settlement (NMR 17448/22)
Howgill Fold Iron Age or Romano British settlement photographed on 16-JUN-2000. A scheduled enclosure at Howgill Fold is protected by MOD marker posts, but has some shell craters around the site. The enclosure survives as low stone walls and slight scarps and contains two hut circles. It is interpreted as an Iron Age or Romano British enclosed settlement or farmstead and lies on a steep, south-west facing, bracken covered slope. © English Heritage. NMR
