Burton Hall moat and fishponds (NMR 17467/33)
Burton Hall moat and fishponds photographed on 16-JUN-2000. Some medieval earthworks survive well within the army training area. A series of rectangular fishponds lie within a moated enclosure at Burton Hall. They may be associated with a medieval monastic grange or a manorial site. However, the symmetrical plan and clean outline of the ponds suggests they may have an ornamental function, in which case they could be associated with Burton Hall an 18th century house. © English Heritage.
