A huge success at NLFF 2006 and then across the year at Tyneside Cinema, we’re thrilled to present a once in a lifetime screening of the meditative masterpiece Into Great Silence in the beautiful surroundings of St Paul's Church, at Bede’s World, Jarrow.

Offering a rare and privileged insight into the gentle rhythms of the lives of the reclusive monks of the Carthusian Order who reside in the French Alps, this is a poetic and mesmerising film.

Adjacent to Bede’s World, St Paul’s is the parish church of Jarrow and is steeped in history. During the intermission you will be able to explore this fascinating building and discover the remains of the Benedictine monastery founded here on the site of the Venerable Bede's Monastery.

Bede’s World museum, which is working alongside St Paul’s Church and others to achieve World Heritage Site Status for Bede’s Wearmouth-Jarrow Monastery in 2010, will remain open until the screening commences. Complimentary hot chocolate will be available on the night.

Tickets for the screening are £7.00/£6.00 concs and includes FREE return coach travel from Tyneside Cinema.

You can extend your Into Great Silence experience and get an exclusive ticket that gives you admission to Bede’s World museum, afternoon tea at Jarrow Hall Café, your film ticket and FREE return coach travel from Tyneside Cinema for just £12.50.
