Lucky Spot Canters Back to Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens

Stella McCartney’s Crystal Horse was a much-loved exhibit in the 2004 Fashion at Belsay exhibition, so much so that the horse stayed into 2005. As one of English Heritage’s most memorable and visually appealing exhibits, it is cantering to Belsay in April 2009 – back by popular demand.

Stella McCartney was inspired to create Lucky Spot following a visit to Stella McCartney's Lucky SpotStella McCartney's Lucky Spot, Belsay Hall Belsay. Her response to this beautiful place with its grand medieval castle, mystical quarry garden and Greek Revival hall, was to create something magical, romantic and visually stunning. She created a jewelled curtain of horse shaped crystals that hung from the ceiling in the castle’s great hall.

Lucky Spot is an artwork made specifically for this wonderfully historic location, sending jewels of light onto the ancient stonework. It is without doubt that the horse’s return to Belsay will be warmly received by visitors as it returns home to the place that inspired its creation.

Please note that Lucky Spot will be viewable from Easter.
