Belsay Set to be Extraordinary in 2010
Between May and September 2010, Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens in Northumberland, will be transformed by leading contemporary artists.
With a tradition as a leading cultural centre in the north, Belsay’s latest art exhibition, will turn the historic attraction with its wonderful gardens and grounds into an Alice-in-Wonderland world of dark enchantment. This topsy-turvy transformation, using unusual exhibits exploring the concept and distortion of scale, is set to be a highlight for days out with a difference in 2010.
The site also has wonderful Grade I Gardens and is running seasonal garden tours with Head Gardener Jo Hindhaugh. Jo will give a detailed tour of Belsay’s rare and beautiful plant species, stunning formal terraces and unique Quarry Garden.
- Belsay Hall is just a short journey from Newcastle upon Tyne and is an ideal combination with a shopping trip to Newcastle.
- A visit to Belsay can be included in a tour of Hadrian's Wall. The tranquil gardens provide a facsinating contrast to the rugged landscape of Northumbria.
