Madeley Court, Shropshire:
From Monastic Grange to Country House Hotel
Excavations 1978-9 and 1987
and
An Early 17th century Maltings at Madeley Court Barn, Telford
Excavations 1991-2.
This volume covers two episodes of archaeological investigation at Madeley Court and one at its main ancillary building. The development of both structures is traced from their origins to the present day and a series of appendices examine documentary and other evidence relating both to the wider context of the estate and its history as well as to specific aspects such as the 17th century walled garden with its unusual sundial and the industrial exploitation of the site in the 19th century. Additional reports covering related material serve to enhance and expand the study.
