Main interests
I trained as an archaeobotanist and began my career working on the Raunds Area Project as an environmental assistant. Recent research includes the analysis of plant macroscopic remains from the Roman phase of the Danebury Environs Roman Project following on from my work on the Iron Age sites. I am also working on a review of the archaeobotanical evidence for Roman and Medieval brewing and have a particular interest in plant remains associated with cremation deposits. For the last six years I have organised and project managed a major National Archaeology Week event at Fort Cumberland. I have also been working with the National Occupational Standards in Archaeology Practice as part of developing the first English Heritage Professional Placements in Conservation archaeological science internship (zooarchaeology). I am a member of the Museum Documentation Association Object Thesaurus group and am part of a wider project seeking to establish methods for the inclusion of Archaeological Science Data in Historic Environment Records.
I am married with two children and love pottering in the garden and going for long walks.
