Main activities
Wide experience of carrying out practical geoarchaeology on a very large number of sites; responsible for English Heritage policy on geoarchaeology; responsible for vetting geoarchaeology in all English Heritage funded projects and advising on numerous others; responsible for management of English Heritage funded postholders in geoarchaeology; extensive publications on micromorphology and related microscopy; publications/methods also regularly involve particle size analysis, heavy mineral analysis, various forms of Scanning Electron Microscope analysis, X ray diffraction, etc.
Expertise
Expert in polarised light microscopy (the main method used in soil micromorphology). I am also carrying out a part-time PhD on applications of earthworm granules to archaeological science.
