Rob Returns To His Roots
A former Royal Albert Hall boss has been appointed by English Heritage North East to oversee the region’s most cherished properties and monuments.
Newcastle-born Rob Flower – who put stars like Pavarotti, Elton John and Paul McCartney on the stage during his seven years at the Royal Albert Hall – has now returned to his roots as head of visitor operations for English Heritage, based at Belsay Hall near Ponteland.
Of his new appointment, Rob said: “I’m Newcastle born and bred so am delighted to be back in the North East after such a long absence.
“My job is to ensure that English Heritage visitors have a positive experience and enjoyable day out and in order to achieve this, I believe it’s important to look from the outside in and view the properties and sites as a member of the public would. That way I can see it from an external perspective and hopefully identify any potential areas for improvement.
“The North East region is home to some of the most spectacular and significant English Heritage sites the UK has to offer and I’m relishing the opportunity to explore them all.
“Heritage isn't just something to visit at the weekend, it’s all around us in our every day lives, in our streets and in our homes and English Heritage does a fantastic job in sharing some of that heritage. I feel very privileged to be part of the organisation and look forward to contributing to its ongoing success in the region.”
English Heritage North East currently manages and protects 17 historic properties ranging from ancient Roman sites to ecclesiastical buildings and listed gardens.
