Groundwell Ridge is a, primarily, Roman-period building complex that was discovered during development in 1996. Initially thought to be a religious complex it is now thought more likely to represent a villa, possibly with a religious component.
Completion of an analysis of existing archaeological evidence from trial excavations undertaken at this site – a Romano-British river-crossing settlement.
The main theme of the project concerns raising awareness of, celebrating and enhancing, the diverse and rich environmental heritage of the rivers, floodplains and valleys.
