Castle keep and Royal Artillery Barracks

Journey back through 450 years of history from Tudor times to World War II and discover the wartime secrets of Cornwall’s greatest coastal fortress.

Start your visit with the new interactive exhibition in the Royal Artillery Barracks – a   perfect introduction to the story of Pendennis Castle and its relationship with the town of Falmouth.

Visit the keep built by Henry VIII and see a Tudor gun deck in action.

Garrison barracks

Find out what it was like to be a garrison soldier at the turn of the last century.

Guardhouse and WW II observation post

Suggested time needed: 20 minutes
The World War I guardhouse shows the stark interior of the cells for those who broke military discipline and the World War II observation post recreates the thrill as the threat of enemy attack sounds.

Tunnels and guns

Suggested time needed: 30 minutes
Descend through the rock cut tunnels to the big guns of Half Moon Battery and take a guided tour of the ammunition magazines. The Noon Day gun fires regularly throughout July and August.

Shop and cafe
