Reference collections

Within the fields of archaeobotany and zooarchaeology, the use of comprehensive comparative collections of modern botanical and skeletal reference specimens is essential for the accurate identification and interpretation of plant and animal remains respectively from archaeological sites.  English Heritage scientists have developed and built up large collections in both disciplines over a period of more than 25 years.
