Mentoring

A professional zooarchaeologist was placed at Fort Cumberland with Environmental Studies staff, to undertake analysis of the Beckford Iron Age-Romano-British animal bone assemblage.  The post was funded by Worcestershire County Council, with financial support from Historic Environment Enabling Programme (HEEP).  The aim of the placement was to provide supervision of the project and specific training in zooarchaeological assessments following English Heritage recommended procedures.  Training in assessments in zooarchaeology has been undertaken for unit staff on other occasions.  Several commercial unit specialists have received close support from Environmental Studies staff.
