Aerofilms Collection
Aerial photographs are a major educational resource, and already form a significant part of the service that the National Monuments Record provides to formal and informal learners. Thanks to the Development Fund, English Heritage is in a position to support the purchase of an Aerofilms collection, which will make an important contribution to the content of the online NMR Learning Zone as well as reaching wider audiences via Viewfinder. This collection of oblique aerial photographs contains approximately one million images dating from 1919 to the 1990s, and creates a unique and nationally important picture of the changing British landscape, both urban and rural, over the course of the last century.
