Durbar Room Chairs, Osborne House

Durbar Room Chair Chair from the Durbar Room at Osborne House, Isle of Wight Thanks to donations and bequests, English Heritage has been able to buy a further four dining chairs that were originally commissioned for the Durbar Room at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.  The walnut and leather chairs were designed by John Lockwood Kipling (father of Rudyard) and Bhai Ram Singh, and are an important part of the Anglo-Indian arts and crafts movement.

Interpretation Maintenance

Thanks to the Development Fund, the Interpretation Maintenance Programme allows English Heritage to respond quickly and effectively to damage to exhibitions and displays throughout the country.  It is a responsive programme and currently includes the repair and renovation of the mannequin gun-crew in the Henrician Keep at Pendennis Castle (Cornwall), and the creation of replacement interpretation panels at Lincoln Medieval Bishop’s Palace, Lincolnshire.
