North Kite Enclosure - An Overview

This strange and puzzling earthwork enclosure covers an area of 0.2km square (50 acres) and, from pottery fragments found there, is thought to date from the Early Bronze Age (2000BC).

It used to have banks and ditches on its west, east and north sides. Excavation in the late 1950s failed to find evidence that the south side was ever enclosed.

Ploughing has damaged much of the monument which is now hardly visible. Only a section of the west bank remains and indicates how this monument may have looked.
