Walmer Castle is in a commanding position and was one of many fortresses built by Henry VIII to defend England from invasion. An official residence of the Lord Warden, Commander of the Cinque ports, Walmer Castle was where the Duke of Wellington spent his final years.Discover Walmer Castle and Gardens
The family were staying in the cottage and apartment where we all had a brilliant time. It was so convenient to have the porch connecting us to each other. Access to the garden was really useful the children could not get over how wonderful it was to have all the space to ourselves to run around in and play.

It was wonderful! I wanted to move in. Beautiful location, very well equipped, warm, comfortable. Best holiday in a very long time. We loved the welcome hamper and the birthday card/bottle of bubbly was a surprise!

This was our first EH holiday but will not be the last. The location was amazing and the fact that we had the grounds and gardens to ourselves when the Castle was closed was lovely.
