    Parking for approx. 100 cars situated 50-100 metres from site. This car park may get full on event days or peak viewing times. Parking costs £2 per car, refundable on admission to the castle. Additional off site parking located in the town of Carisbrooke (not managed by English Heritage).

    Delightful tea room, serving a selection of locally produced hot and cold food including sandwiches, soup, cakes, hot and cold beverages. Open daily April - October, and weekends November - March.

    The on-site Carisbrooke Museum (managed by the Carisbrooke Museum Trust) provides more historical information about the castle, as well as Charles I memorabilia.

    An extensive presentation – including film with English subtitles and a virtual tour – highlights Carisbrooke Castle’s long and often tumultuous history.

    As well as lawn and gravelled areas, the property features the Princess Beatrice Gardens designed by TV presenter and award winning garden designer, Chris Beardshaw. Some seating provided around the grounds. There is also a 500 year-old water well operated by donkey.

    We do have some restrictions at certain locations, so if photography is your main reason for visiting, please call the site ahead of your visit to check if any parts of the site are restricted.

    English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
