    Parking is available roughly 200 metres from the visitor centre. The car park is free of charge.There is parking for four coaches off site, and a drop off area located roughly 100 metres from the visitor centre.

    The visitor centre sells a selection of snacks including hot and cold drinks, confectionery and ice-cream.

    You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds. Visitors can spread a rug out on the grass and enjoy views of the castle (no BBQs or alcohol please).

    The gift shop sells a wide range of English Heritage souvenirs and gifts, including books, sweets, toys and costumes. The gift shop is located in the visitor centre, which is fully accessible.

    There are a number of interesting staged displays hidden on each floor within the keep, and a 3D model of the castle located inside the visitor centre.

    If you are looking to use one of our sites for commercial, corporate or professional photography or as a filming location, please contact our filming team as soon as possible to check availability and acquire the relevant permissions and paperwork.

    Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
