Plan a Great Day Out

The theatrical shell of Moreton Corbet Castle and the extensive remains of Haughmond Abbey are less than 20 miles away from Old Oswestry.

Slightly further afield is Beeston Castle, one of the most dramatically sited fortresses in England. Once you've climbed the hill to the castle keep, reward yourself with something from the Sandstone Café, which offers a tempting range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

The Big Butterfly Count

The Big Butterfly Count is taking place this year between 19th July and 11th August. We think Old Oswestry Hillfort would be a great place to take part as it is home to an array of butterfly species. All you need is 15 minutes and a preferably sunny day to take part. To find out more please visit www.bigbutterflycount.org/about and download an identification chart.
