Facilities at Sherborne Old Castle

  • Parking

    Parking charges apply to non-members. Parking free for members. There are spaces for approximately 10 cars, located roughly 200 meters from the castle entrance and there is also free roadside parking along Castleton Road. Although there is no coach access to the site, there is a passenger set down and pick up point on the A30 by the Castleton Road.  

  • Food And Drink

    There is a vending machine selling hot and cold drinks and ice creams. Alternatively, there is also a large supermarket located 10 to 15 minutes walk away from the site.
  • Picnic Area

    Picnics are welcome within the inner castle. There is plenty of space on which to lay out a blanket, as well as five benches to sit on.
  • Shop

    There is a small shop selling a selection of English Heritage gifts and themed souvenirs. This is located close to the castle entrance and is wheelchair accessible.
  • Toilets

    There are no toilets available at Sherborne Old Castle.

    Dogs on leads allowed.

    The grounds of Sherborne Old Castle are mostly grassed, with a moat and a range of wildlife including peregrine falcons and Lady Betty's Pinks (flowering mid summer).

English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
