    The Lord Warden’s Tea Room uses fruit and vegetables grown in our organic kitchen gardens and all our food is locally sourced. Refreshments include hot meals, afternoon teas, homemade lemonade and ginger beer.

    Successive Lord Wardens have left their mark on the castle and it is home to many valuable furnishings which are now on display.

    The gardens include areas carefully managed to encourage wild flowers and insects. Smooth grass and gravel paths within grounds. The gardens include the Broad Walk, with formal borders framed by the famous Cloud Yew Hedge, a working kitchen garden and croquet lawn.

    We do have some restrictions at certain locations, so if photography is your main reason for visiting, please call the site ahead of your visit to check if any parts of the site are restricted.

    English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
