Chesters Roman Fort and Museum - Hadrian's Wall
Unearth some of Northumberland's hidden past this February half term.
Mini archaelogists will join two Victorian characters, who would have helped John Clayton discover Hadrian's Wall's Roman remains, ancient artefacts and more.
Ongoing talks throughout the day will help youngsters understand more about the tools used to excavate, some of which can be found in the Clayton Museum today. Visitors will also be able to admire their collection of Roman objects and original archaeology on display. They'll be able to guess what the Roman finds are, in the same way that Victorians would have had to work out what is it they'd found!
There will also be tours throughout the day, when our Victorian characters will guide kids down to a special area of the site to talk about what was unearthed here by the likes of John Clayton and his team of Victorian archaeologists.
