Hail Hadrian! Bring the whole family and delve into Roman life with a weekend packed full of exciting, energetic and hands-on activities.
Experience first-hand the powers that siege machinery allowed the Roman army with our have-a-go artillery. Get to grips with a Ballistae or an Onager - these giant catapult-type machines would have been used to destroy fortifications and city walls.
Try your hand at spear throwing and learn a cavalry skill or two with a turn on our mechanical horse. There will be Roman armour to try on and mini battle games for children to scrub up on their battlefield tactics too.
Sign up to gladiator school where the Optio (next in command to the Centurion!) will put budding young Romans through their paces. You'll play your part in forming a Testudo (the famous Roman shield wall) and learn how to march like a Roman soldier.
Then get involved in chariot racing, the most popular sport of the Roman era, and become a champion Chariot horse. Chariot horses were Roman superstars - will you win the adoration of the crowd?
Please note that some of these activities are weather dependant.
