Bee Weekend - Join our expert gardeners who’ll cover a different topic each weekend giving you top tips from the harvest season as they draw from their experience tending Darwin’s famous garden – his ‘outdoor laboratory’.
Each event consists of a special gardener-led tour of the productive parts of the garden – the organically managed orchard and walled kitchen garden – finishing off with an in-depth look at the featured crops of the week.
Hands-on activities are available for our younger visitors and freshly prepared produce from the garden will be on offer in the tearoom. Get hands-on, close-up live animal encounters with insect species from around the world including tarantulas, scorpions, giant millipedes and many more in the Big Bug Experience. Limited spaces avaliable for the Big Bug Experience, pre-booking is essential.
This weekend our knowledgeable beekeepers are on hand to answer your questions about honey bees, honey and beekeeping.
