Terms and Conditions

Followers of the official English Heritage accounts on Facebook and/or Twitter will be able to enter the competition by telling us their favourite recipe and tagging a friend they would like to cook it for. Entries must be received between 11:00 BST on Thursday 1st October 2020 and 23:59 BST on Friday 9th October 2020 to be eligible for entry into the competition. This competition is only open to residents of the United Kingdom.

Five winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries received. Each winner will receive a copy of ‘How To Cook The Victorian Way With Mrs Crocombe’. English Heritage will contact each winner via Facebook Messenger or Twitter Direct Message to arrange delivery of the book, which will be sent by Royal Mail Signed For® 1st Class within 28 calendar days of confirming the winner’s address. 

All personal data provided to English Heritage will be held and processed in accordance with the requirements of all legislation and regulatory requirements in force from time to time relating to the use of personal data and the privacy of electronic communications, including (i) the Data Protection Act 2018 and any successor UK legislation, as well as (ii) the General Data Protection Regulation ((EU) 2016/679) and any other directly applicable European Union regulation relating to data protection and privacy (for so long as and to the extent that the law of the European Union has legal effect in the UK).

We will keep your personal data safe and secure. We will not share it with other organisations without your knowledge and consent, unless required by law to do so. We will keep your personal data only for the purposes of communicating with you regarding this competition.

Employees or contractors of English Heritage, any person directly or indirectly involved in English Heritage or the running of the competition, or their direct family members are not eligible for the prize. English Heritage’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives. English Heritage reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value.

English Heritage reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

Entry in the competition signifies acceptance of these rules. English Heritage reserves the right to withhold, change or cancel the prize in the event of non-compliance with these rules. English Heritage also reserves the right at its discretion to amend the competition rules at any time.
