Please find our frequently asked questions and answers for St George's Festival.
Do I need to pre-book tickets?
Booking for this event is advisable. One day or weekend tickets are available and can be bought online on our web page or by calling our dedicated ticket sales team on 0370 333 1181 (Mon – Fri 8.30am – 5.30 Sat 9am – 5pm). Tickets will also be available to purchase at the event site on the day. Buy tickets online before Fri 24 April and receive 10% off
How will my tickets arrive?
Tickets will be emailed to you and can be either shown on your mobile device or printed and brought with you on the day of the event.
Is there a member’s discount?
Yes there is a discount for English Heritage Members. If you are a member please remember to bring your English Heritage Membership card with you.
Is there a Corporate member’s discount?
Yes there is a discount for our Corporate members. To see if your membership includes this benefit, please call English Heritage customer services on 0370 333 1181. Please remember to bring your Corporate Membership card with you.
Can I book at the last minute?
If there are tickets still available you will be able to continue to book online during the event. Please note that telephone bookings will close at 3pm on Friday.
Can my tickets be changed?
Changing the day of your ticket will depend on the availability. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to check if the day of your booking can be amended.
At the event/ Food and drink
What can I see and do at St George’s Day?
Throughout the day there will be several displays including a medieval joust, falconry, Clash of the Knights and St George will battle the dragon. There will also be plenty of kids’ activities including circus skills, children’s melee and medieval music workshops. You can also explore and wander through our historical encampments to experience the sights and sounds of throughout life in England. There will also be catering outlets where you can top up your energy to enjoy the festivities all day long.
Please note some of the displays contain loud bangs.
What time is St George fighting the dragon?
The St George and the Dragon Pageant will take place at 4pm, each day of the event.
Will the main house be open?
Yes the main house will be open and your ticket to the event will grant you entry.
Will the cafe be open?
The main café and shop will be open during the event, there will also a BBQ and several other food catering outlets throughout the grounds.
Where can I buy food and drink?
There will be a number of catering outlets on site, namely. Keep an eye on our website for further updates.
Are dogs allowed into the event?
Yes, dogs are allowed at the event but must be kept on a lead at all times.
Can I get cash out on site?
No we do not have an ATM or offer cash-back, but many of our food and shopping outlets take payment by card.
Parking and Accessibility
Will there be plenty of free parking?
There is free parking at Wrest Park, you will be directed on arrival.
Is it wheelchair friendly?
The event takes place out in the grounds and is accessed by good paths. There will also be an accessible viewing area for visitors in wheelchairs wishing to see the Main Arena displays.
Can we book a wheelchair/mobility scooter?
We do not have any wheelchairs. We do have a very limited number of mobility scooters available. Advance booking is essential and they will be reserved on a first come first served basis. Please telephone the Visitor Centre for more details on 01525 863711.
