Great British School Trip prize draw terms and conditions

  1. The Promoter is: The English Heritage Trust, incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 7447221 and charity number 1140351 whose registered office is at The Engine House, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon, SN2 2EH (‘English Heritage’).
  2. These terms and conditions apply to the Hyundai Great British School Trip Competition 2023 (‘the Competition’), running across all bookable English heritage sites for education visits from 9am on Wednesday 1 February 2023 (‘Opening Date’) until midnight on Monday 31st July 2023 ('Closing Date').
  3. The Competition is open to all schools or educational groups who’ve booked a school trip as part of The Great British School Trip initiative in the United Kingdom, excluding anyone professionally connected with this Competition. All schools who book a visit via the initiative will be automatically entered into the scheme unless they opt out which they can do so at any time by emailing bookeducation@english-heritage.org.uk
  4. There will be twelve prizes on offer for twelve schools; ten x £50 to spend in our shops or our online shop (one winner per school), one free Discovery Visit to redeem at any of our workshop sites across the country, and one bespoke session either onsite or at the winning school, with one of our Education Visits Officers. For the £50 to spend in our shop or online shop, the winning schools will be provided with a unique code to use at the point of check out online, or to use in one of our sites’ shops they need to email verity.hope@english-heritage.org.uk in advance so arrangements can be made. For the winning schools of the Discovery Visit bespoke session, a unique code will be provided to quote when booking an education visit through our online booking system https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/learn/school-visits/education-bookings/. The Discovery Visit workshop and bespoke session with our Education Visits Officer must be redeemed in academic year 2023 – 24 (September 2023 – July 2024). The Discovery Visit can be redeemed at any of our workshop sites up to the value of £200 for one class. When booking the bespoke session, the winning school must specify if they wish to do a session at its school, at one of our sites, or virtually. Once the winning school has selected the location/medium it will then be contacted by our Education Visits Officer to learn more about its preferences for a session. The session will be up to 1 hour 30 minutes.
  5. No entry fee or purchase is necessary to enter the Competition.
  6. A condition of entry is that entrants must have booked a visit to one of our English Heritage sites quoting ‘GBST’ or ‘HERODV2023 GBST’ at the point of booking. Teachers must book their visit using our online booking portal https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/learn/school-visits/education-bookings/ or by emailing bookeducation@english-heritage.org.uk. Details on where to quote the unique code are detailed on this page.
  7. Contact details supplied by the group leader on the booking information will be used to enter their school into the free prize draw. The information supplied at the point of booking will only be used to contact the school in relation to the prize. The school can opt out of the competition at any time by emailing bookeducation@english-heritage.org.uk and quoting Opt out Great British School Trip Competition 2023 in the email subject line.
  8. Only one entry shall be accepted per school and any entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
  9. The winning schools will be selected at random week commencing 31 July 2023. The winning schools will be contacted by email within 2 weeks of the closing date by English Heritage.
  10. If the winning school cannot be contacted by Friday 29 September 2023, English Heritage reserves the right to withdraw the prize from that winning school and offer the prize to another entrant selected from the entries that were received before the Closing Date.
  11. There is no alternative prize and the prize may not be transferred to another school.
  12. By entering the Competition, the group leader and the winning school understand that their names and images may be used for publicity purposes on social media channels, websites and in any other media and English Heritage publications. The group leader and winning school may also be asked to participate in further reasonable publicity arising from the Competition.  
  13. English Heritage must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation English Heritage will send the name of the winning school to anyone who emails bookeducation@english-heritage.org.uk or writes to Education Bookings Contact Centre Team, English Heritage, The Engine House, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon, SN2 2EH (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month after the Closing Date. If the winning school objects to any or all of its name being published or made available, please contact English Heritage bookeducation@english-heritage.org.uk. In such circumstances, English Heritage must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
  14. Entry in the Competition signifies the entrant’s acceptance of these rules. English Heritage reserves the right to withhold or cancel the prize in the event of non-compliance with these rules. English Heritage also reserves the right at its discretion to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value and/or amend the Competition rules at any time.
  15. English Heritage reserves the right to cancel the Competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and/or if circumstances arise outside of its control.
  16. By entering the Competition the entrant agrees that any personal information provided at the point of booking may be held and used by English Heritage or its agents and suppliers to administer the Competition. All personal data provided to English Heritage will be held and processed in accordance with the requirements of all legislation and regulatory requirements in force from time to time relating to the use of personal data and the privacy of electronic communications, including: (i) the Data Protection Act 2018 and any successor UK legislation; (ii) the UK GDPR; and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/2426) as amended.  We will keep your personal data safe and secure. We will not share it with other organisations without your knowledge and consent, unless required by law to do so.  We will keep your personal data only for the purposes of communicating with you regarding this competition.  The entrant shall have the right to withdraw their consent at any time.  The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
  17. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or any other social network. You are providing your information to English Heritage and not to any other party.  The information provided will be used in conjunction with the following Privacy Policy found at https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/about-us/our-people/our-policies/
  18. The rules of this Competition shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes arising out of these terms and conditions.
