We are looking for a Collections Conservation Assistant (North) to join our team. The role is full time. You'll be on a permanent term, full time basis, working 36 hours per week.

This is a great opportunity to care for some of English Heritage's diverse collections at a wide range of wonderful sites and inspiring stores.
As Collections Conservation Assistant, you will assist with delivering the care and conservation of our historic collections in the North region, ranging from archaeology to decorative arts and social history, so they can continue to play a key role in bringing history to life.
You will work closely with the Collections Conservators in the North and be responsible for conservation cleaning of historic artefacts, interiors and stores, including planning and completion of conservation cleaning schedules. You will also undertake other preventive conservation work such as; checking environmental data, insect pest monitoring, responding to emergencies, installing protection and providing supervision during filming, events and building work. You will provide training and support to site staff and volunteers relating to preventive conservation.
To be considered as a Collections Conservation Assistant, you'll need:
- Experience of undertaking conservation cleaning/housekeeping work of historic collections and interiors in a historic house or museum setting.
- Experience of packing and handling historic artefacts
- Awareness of collections care activities including insect pest management and environmental monitoring
- To be able to lift objects and equipment, work at height, and occasionally underground and in confined spaces
- Excellent manual dexterity with a patient but efficient approach to completing tasks
