HOW TO MAKE YOUR BATHROOM MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

PROMOTIONAL FEATURE

Living an eco-friendly life is about looking after ourselves, as well as the world we all share. Sometimes this may feel like an intimidating feat but, in reality, you just need to know what to look for, and where. With a few tips, tricks and signposts, your bathroom will be transformed into a planet-friendly paradise before your eyes.

Let’s start with the basics…

Reduce your water waste

For many of us, water comes out of our taps whenever we want, so it’s easy to take it for granted. However, the majority of water that we consume when washing, drinking and bathing goes through a rigorous process of filtering and treatment before it’s safe to use, which is why it’s so vital to treasure every drop.

Simply switching the tap off when you’re brushing your teeth, fixing leaky taps, having a shower instead of a bath, introducing a shower timer to your routine and, of course, switching to waterless products are all great ways to reduce your water consumption.

Waterless products are also a great way to…

…back away from plastic packaging

Keep our oceans free from plastic bottles and chemical nasties by switching to zero-plastic, naturally kind bathroom essentials. Toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body care and so much more are all available in waterless (and plastic-free) bar form, so you can seamlessly swap out every product in your routine without compromising on quality and care.

As well as being planet-friendly, waterless solid products are also compact, travel-friendly and long-lasting. One shampoo bar can last for the equivalent of up to three bottles of shampoo, which means for every bar you use, three plastic bottles are removed from circulation. Neat.

Whenever you choose our waterless products you…

…choose naturally kind ingredients

Naturally kind ingredients are vital not only for the wellbeing of your body, but for the planet. There’s no need to take chemical shortcuts and contribute to pollution when nature does the job so well already.

Keep your eyes open for products with high naturally derived ingredient percentages. Make sure that they’re not only natural, but also sustainably sourced. grüum likes to be transparent about sustainability, with badges across all product ranges so you know what you’re investing in.

Shop locally where possible

Huge companies will often create products internationally and then ship them over to the UK. This shipping process means that each product you purchase from them lands in your hands with a huge carbon footprint attached, due to the amount of fuel used to transport it from one country to another.

Choosing products that are created by small, local businesses and, where possible, handmade in the UK is a great way to filter out the need for excessive fuel, thereby reducing your carbon footprint. grüum’s bottles feature a unique flat, square design that saves space and reduces transport costs even further.

Use sustainably sourced accessories

It’s not just about the products we use, it’s about how we store them and what we use alongside them. Bamboo is an excellent alternative to plastic that you’ll find in many of grüum’s accessories, like its frizz-reducing comb and toothbrushes – now with replaceable bamboo heads.

Its wash bags are made using recovered ocean-bound plastic, and satin pillowcases are created using sustainably sourced materials.
