Discover Hardwick Old Hall

Built in 1620, this imposing property is located in the heart of the Hardwick Estate overlooking the Derbyshire countryside. East Lodge is situated within the walled grounds of the romantic ruin of Hardwick Old Hall. This spacious holiday cottage, with its high ceilings and lead light windows has spectacular views of Hardwick Hall and its gardens.

Hardwick was home to Bess, one of the most formidable women of Elizabethan England, who was the matriarch of the Cavendish family, building Chatsworth with her second husband and returning to build the two great halls at Hardwick after her separation from her fourth husband the Earl of Shrewsbury.

The Lodge is not only set in spectacular scenery, but it is stunning inside. The English Heritage Staff on site could not have been any more helpful. The Lodge was incredibly clean and tidy, and every need had been thought of.
