When staying at an English Heritage holiday cottage, you'll receive a VIP guest card that provides complimentary access to all English Heritage sites for the duration of your stay.
At the site you are staying at, you'll have exclusive out-of-hours access to the grounds and gardens to enjoy at your own leisure. During this time, you will be unable to access the Visitor Centre.
From November through to March, visiting hours are reduced across English Heritage sites.
We’re conserving the fragile ruins of the Old Hall. At the moment, our experts are removing harmful plants, repairing the masonry and working on the historic plasterwork. Most of the work will be done by hand without the use of large machinery. Conservation in action workshops are taking place throughout the project, and our visitors and holiday cottage guests are very welcome to join in and learn more about our vital work. As a holiday guest you will still have access to the outside grounds to roam freely, though whilst the site is closed you will be unable to access the ruins of the Old Hall and the visitor areas at the site. Please check Hardwick Old Hall to find out more.
A maximum of two well behaved dogs are allowed at the property. A charge of £30 per stay is made for each dog (there is no charge for guide dogs or hearing dogs).
Christmas stays are a minimum of five nights, checking from the 22 December 2023. New Year's stays are a minimum of five nights between 29 December 2023 and 4 January 2024. Book online or by contacting our booking team at holidaycottages@english-heritage.org.uk.
